Class of 1973 – 40th Reunion – Saturday, November 2, 2013, 6:30pm, Chartiers Country Club
The 40th high school reunion festivities started on Friday, November 1st at Bar Marco in the strip District. On Saturday, a tour of the school was conducted and several classmates said the school was so much different 40 years later, many good changes. The dinner/dance was held Saturday night at the Chartiers Country Club. More than 83 classmates of the original 350 attended.
We had a Tribute table to our deceased classmates and a Memory table that included pink and green detentions, hall passes, prom pictures, freshman pictures, a complete uniform, including a blazer and 2 wrestling jackets from the 1973 state championship.
The night went way too fast, but we were able to reconnect with old friends and make new friends. Since the reunion, we’ve enjoyed an evening at Downey’s House to hear Pat Scanga and the Blue Bombers play and hope to spend more time together in the future. Our last reunion was our 25th reunion and we are planning a summer get-together for 2014 and hope our next reunion will be sooner than 15 years!
The Class of ’78 held its 35th reunion in September at the Tonidale Restaurant. This is their sixth reunion since graduating—they’ve gathered every five years, with the exception of the 15th year. In fact, their reunions have become so popular that alumni from other class years often join them! At each event, they recognize classmates who have passed away, and have established a ‘Class of ’78 Memorial Fund’ at Bishop Canevin to honor them. Everyone had a great time! If you would like to get in touch with the class of ’78 please contact John Costantino at email@example.com.
It’s been 20 years since the Class of 83 had an organized reunion, but with some dedicated individuals and 2 + years of planning, we gathered on Saturday, October 12, 2013 for our 30th class reunion. The reunion was held at Rico’s Restaurant in the North Hills (family owed by classmate David Lorenzini). The venue and food were fabulous. The tables were decorated blue and white. Our name badge had our senior picture on it (this was helpful to many). A slide show took us all back in time. All kinds of memorabilia, mostly found in the attic or a closet at our parent’s house, were displayed. There was a wrestling uniform, band and cheerleading jackets, a graduation cap and tassel, yearbooks, a class ring, and yes, even a gray pleated skirt. A CD of music from our time was provided to classmates. We had a beautiful wooden display case remembering our 9 classmates that left us way too early. Everyone had a wonderful time reconnecting. We paid the DJ 2 extra hours and “partied like it was 1983”. Moving forward we will continue to have informal gatherings to stay connected and anticipate our 35th.
The Class of 83 is connected via FaceBook, Email and our private website ( http://canevin1983.ning.com). Please contact Debbie (Cygrymus) Zaparoni at firstname.lastname@example.org, 412-956-7223 or FaceBook, if you have any questions and/or if you would like to get connected.
Class of 1988 – 25th Reunion – Saturday, October 12, 2013
Approximately 35 classmates from the Class of 1988 gathered at the Tonidale for our 25th Reunion. The night was full of fun, reminiscing and good laughs. So much fun was at that the party continued at the Pub afterwards. All proceeds from the reunion were donated back to Bishpp Canevin’s Annual Giving Fund. If you would like to stay in contact with the Class of ’99, please contact Jeff Deitrick at email@example.com.
Class of 1993 – 20th Year Reunion – Friday, November 15, 2013 – Crowne Plaza Hotel, Bethel Park, PA
The Class of 93 got together for a fun filled weekend in November. Over 50 of our classmates made it out – with several coming from out of town and one from Italy. While many more expressed regret in not being able to attend — and we promise to have some more frequent events — those that came, along with their spouses or significant others made for a very lively and enjoyable group. It really emphasized what good people the Class of 93 were and continue to be. It hardly seemed as though 20 years had past – and conversations and friendships that existed then picked right back up. I know in the weeks that followed I have continued to keep in touch with those that attended and have a few holiday get togethers coming up with classmates. There is a strong desire to have a kid-friendly summer park picnic. Details to come. I’d like to thank Canevin for providing some memorabilia and school-spirit gifts to us. Much appreciated. Also – made props to Mike Moskala for providing Grape Maddog!
Class of 2003 – 10th Reunion – Friday, November 29, 2013
The Class of 2003 celebrated their 10-year reunion on Friday November 29, 2013 in a private room at Claddagh Irish Pub in Southside Works. There were 30 people in attendance. Classmates Julie Parente, Brian & Colleen Molinero, and Bryan Hoover organized the reunion. Classmates and their guests enjoyed bottomless appetizers such as Guinness cheese dip with soft pretzels, spinach & artichoke dip, sandwiches and Irish Meatballs. Claddagh also offered several drink specials for reunion guests at the bar. It was a great evening and everyone had a nice time catching up with one another. A new tradition was started that will be carried out at each reunion. The Class of 2003 collected a monetary donation in memory of their classmates who have passed away.
This year’s donation is in memory of Justin Holzer and Regis McGrath and will be given to Bishop Canevin. Everyone enjoyed looking at the 2003 senior yearbook and class picture. One classmate, Paul Moyer brought his senior yearbook and had everyone sign it, which was something he had always wanted to do since graduating. Classmates also got to talk to one of their teachers, Mr. Tomasic, who has since retired. A good time was had by all and we hope to see everyone in 2023! If you did not attend, please send your most up to date contact information to Julieparente@hotmail.com so you can be sure to receive information for upcoming reunions.
