2016-17 Scholarship Opportunities
The following Scholarship opportunities have been received by the BC Counseling Staff recently. Please contact the college or organization directly or call the BC Counseling Office for details at ext. 224.
Jamie Ellenberger Scholarship
The Passavant Memorial Homes Foundation is inviting participation in the Jamie Ellenberger Scholarship Program. Two, $1,000.00 scholarships are being offered. Any senior planning to attend an accredited two or four year post-high school education program is eligible to apply.
Please contact the BC Counseling Office, ext. 224, for a copy of the application. The application deadline is April 21, 2017 by 4:00p.m. If you have questions, contact Colleen Perry at 412.820.1015, ext. 521.
Kiwanis Club of Sheraden
Seniors who are residents of the Sheraden section of Pittsburgh, are eligible to apply for this $1,000.00 scholarship. The deadline to submit an application is April 7, 2017. Click here, Kiwanis 2017 for a detailed information sheet.
Ralph B. Canterbury Scholarhip
The Clearview Federal Credit Union is again offering 10 Canterbury Scholarships valued at $1,000.00 each. Call Denise Kennedy at 412.269.3057 or visit www.clearviewfcu.org to apply online. Applications must be received by March 31, 2017.
The Constance T. Rockwell Scholarship Program for Musical Theater
The Pittsburgh CLO Guild is now accepting applicants for the Constance T. Rockwell Scholarship. 12th Grade students with an interest in the performing arts should apply for these $4,000.00 scholarships based on talent, financial need, scholastic merit and school and community involvement. PITTSBURGH HISTORY & LANDMARKS FOUNDATION
This award of $1,500 for the recipient’s first year of undergraduate study and is renewable up to $6,000 if the student maintains good academic standing and demonstrates involvement in campus activities. The applicant must live and attend school in Allegheny County and have been accepted to a college or university. The postmark deadline is April 19, 2017. State Farm Good Neighbor Scholarship
Seniors who will graduate from high school at the end of the 2016-2017 school year, plans to enroll in a full time 2 or 4 year accredited college, tech school, etc., has a 2.5 to 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, is a U.S. citizen and demonstrates financial need, may qualify. Up to 50 selected recipients will receive a $2,500 award for undergraduate study only. Green Tree Woman’s Civic Club Annual Scholarship Program
The Green Tree Woman’s Civic Club is offering 2 scholarships for Green Tree residents. The first is open to students currently in their SENIOR YEAR of high school in the amount of $500. The second, valued at $1,000, is open to Undergraduate College students who have completed one academic year of college.
Applications for the 2017 scholarships are now available at the Green Tree Municipal Center, Green Tree Public Library, or by downloading from www.greentreeboro.com .

American Society of Materials (ASM International)
The Pittsburgh Golden Triangle chapter of ASM International established the Owen M. Katz High School Scholarship. Qualified graduating seniors, interested in pursuing a career in the field of Engineering in the metals or materials fields, are eligible to apply for this $1,500.00 scholarship donated by the Katz family. Bob Williams Scholarship
Current high school seniors, residing in the boundaries of the Rotary District 7300, (Allegheny, Beaver and parts of Westmorland Counties), who are U.S. Citizens with a 2.5 GPA or higher, may qualify for this need-based scholarship of $2,000 per academic year. The postmark deadline is the last Friday in February, 2017.
Pittsburgh Rotary Foundation Scholarship
These need-based scholarships of $1,500.00 each, will be awarded to 6 high school seniors. The criteria for eligibility is as follows: Applicant must have a 3.2 or higher GPA, be a senior applying to colleges and must be currently attending high school in Allegheny County. The Pittsburgh Foundation
The Pittsburgh Foundation web site has many scholarships to offer students in grade levels ranging from Kindergarten to graduating seniors, as well as High School Graduates.
Visit them at http://pittsburghfoundation.org and click on ‘Scholarships’ in the upper right hand corner of their home page. With some apply directly on-line while others may need to be downloaded. Below are some scholarships that have been recently brought to our attention.
Anna N. Dosen Scholarship
This scholarship benefits students of Serbian background planning to major in the field of science (Engineering and/or Health Sciences).
Irene and Harry Louik Scholarship
This scholarship is for students who plan to become involved in some way with the performing arts. The deadline is May 15, 2017.
Joseph “Murph” Irwin Memorial Scholarship is for high school seniors who graduated from St. Louise de Marillac Grade School.
Melville Alexander Eberhardt Scholarship
This scholarship is for graduating seniors residing in Western Pennsylvania who plan to attend a two or four-year accredited college or university.
