The Rakaczky Family

When Chuck Rakaczky’s son, Chuckie, graduates from Bishop Canevin in 2018 he will be the 5th child in his family to do so!

Sara Rakaczky, class of ’98, went on to Cornell and received a Masters in Public Health from Tufts and is now a researcher at the University of Pitt. Vanessa, class of ’00, went on to Georgetown and received a Masters in Speech Pathology from North Carolina and now works at UPMC Mercy. Twins Alexis and Charlotte, class of ’05, went on to University of Dayton, both receiving Education Degrees and then both completed Masters of Education from UD and are working as teachers in Ohio and Pittsburgh.

Vanessa brought in another BC grad to the family when she married Andrew Pogozelski, class of ’00. He also went to Georgetown and then on to Duke Medical School, University of Penn Residency, and Cardiology Fellowship at UPMC and now will start his career as a Heart Failure Cardiologist, joining the AHN system this July.

Lastly, their mother, Suzan, is the school’s librarian and is professionally and emotionally committed to making BCHS’s library a great resource for students and teachers!

All totaled, 5 children, and 1 by marriage, with over 50 years of combined catholic elementary school experience, 24 years combined at BCHS, (when Chuckie finishes), and over 20 years combined of Catholic undergraduate and Graduate education.

When Chuck is asked why he chose catholic education for his children… “because Catholic education gets results! Productive students, committed professionals and caring citizens!”
