Peter Faber grew up in southern France tending to his father's sheep. While attending the College of Sainte-Barbe in Paris, Faber befriended St. Francis Xavier and St. Ignatius Loyola. In addition to being a co-founder of the Society of Jesus, Faber spent his life trying to bring a revival of Christian piety. He was a master of spiritual exercises. While he was very hard on himself, he was gentle to those that he preached to. Faber served as a source of guidance and instruction to many. During his life, he traveled to Portugal, Spain, Germany, and Rome while spreading the message of the Jesuits one person at a time. Because of his works, Pope Francis canonized him on December 17, 2013.
