Dear Fellow Bishop Canevin Alumni,
With a heart full of gratitude and humility, I’m honored to introduce myself as the new Director of Alumni, Donor, and Parent Relations at Bishop Canevin High School. Having walked the same hallways and learned in the same classrooms as you, I feel incredibly blessed to be back home in this new role, ready to serve our alma mater. My roots here, like many of yours, run deep.
Bishop Canevin has long been a foundational part of my family’s story. My husband and my brother are proud alumni, and my own children are now Crusaders—two are already graduates, and another is on the way in the class of 2030. I know from firsthand experience the unique and lasting gifts a Bishop Canevin education provides. My own time here prepared me not only academically for Villanova University, but also spiritually and socially. Those gifts continued to guide me as I obtained my Master’s in Education at the University of Pittsburgh.
Now, it is my turn to give back and fight for the place that has given my loved ones and me so much. I know how lucky I was to have my education start at St. Agatha’s in Bridgeville, which is sadly no longer open. Like all diocesan schools, we face the challenges of restructuring parishes and elementary schools in the Diocese of Pittsburgh. Yet, this moment also presents a profound opportunity to spread the Catholic faith to learners who might not otherwise have the chance. We need your help to continue our growth and to ensure our mission thrives.
My ultimate goal is to foster a deeper connection between our past and present Crusaders. We want our current and future students to understand the rich history and vibrant community they have inherited. We know that private Catholic schools like ours always need financial support, and we are grateful for any and all donations. However, I want to emphasize that your support is not limited to financial contributions. We are eager to explore many other ways you can get involved, such as:
- Volunteering your precious time
- Attending our social and service opportunities
- Participating in reunions on campus
- Sharing your professional expertise
Our hearts and minds are open to any suggestions you may have for ways to make you feel more welcome to come back home to BC. We want to reconnect with you and strengthen the special bond that connects all Crusaders. I invite you to contact me directly so we can begin getting to know each other again.
As we move forward, let us remember the wisdom of St. Ignatius of Loyola, a guiding voice in Bishop Canevin’s spiritual foundation:
“Love ought to show itself in deeds more than in words”.
In that spirit, let us demonstrate our love for Bishop Canevin through our actions and renewed commitment to its future.
