Bishop Canevin has various retreats that are offered throughout the year for their students, including all the class retreats and a new Metanoia retreat that is offered to upperclassmen. Each of these retreats is centered on growing our students’ relationship with God and the Bishop Canevin Community. All retreats begin with mass and remain focused on providing the students with the tools they need to stay connected to their faith.
The Kairos Retreat is the upperclassmen retreat founded in the Jesuit Tradition. This retreat focuses on life after high school, navigating in a culture that does not always support our faith. The retreat is also student lead, allowing the Bishop Canevin Seniors the opportunity to take on a leadership role within their faith life.
Crusaders for Christ is a club that explores the Catholic Faith, service, and community building. This group will come together several times during the year to listen to speakers about their experiences in the faith, attend service events in the Greater Pittsburgh community, and build community with one another through playing games and simply hanging out. The hope for this group is to give students the courage to live out their faith in all aspects of their lives.
At Bishop Canevin, prayer is built into the culture of our school. We pray as a whole community not only in the morning but also in the afternoon. Both the morning prayer and afternoon prayer are student lead. The afternoon prayer is particularly special because we pray the Angelus, remembering Mary’s fiat and the coming of Our Lord, Jesus Christ.
