This yearlong course (for students with little or no prior knowledge of Arabic) combines the study of the Arab language with an introduction to Arab-speaking cultures. Students will gain practical experience in speaking Arabic with proper pronunciation to acquire basic conversational skills on topics, such as, greetings, shopping, and travel. Moving from English language-centered to an Arabic-centered class, students will learn basic vocabulary and sentence patterns used in daily life and social interaction. Cultural notes will be given along with speaking practice necessary for interpersonal communication. Requires AVLI fee.
