The concept of slope of a line leads into the discussion of the basic idea of the derivative. Limits of polynomial and rational functions lead into the derivative of polynomial and rational functions. Various applications of derivatives are explored. Antiderivatives and indefinite integrals lead to definite integrals and the applications of definite integrals. Graphing calculators are required. A TI-83 or TI-84 is recommended.
