Incoming Freshmen

If you are a prospective student looking to join our freshman class for the 2024-2025 school year, we have provided the following instructions to ensure you have a smooth application process. Please read each step carefully and don’t hesitate to reach out to our Admissions Office at admissions@bishopcanevin.org if you have any questions.

Step 1: Visit Camus

The best way to learn about Bishop Canevin is to spend time on our campus! We offer numerous opportunities for students and families to visit and learn how Bishop Canevin High School develops students academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. Step 2: Complete an Online Application

While Bishop Canevin offers rolling admissions throughout the school year, it is best to apply early. This will ensure that your family receives timely information about upcoming events, important dates, and the financial aid process. The application authorizes the release of your student’s school records and most recent Standardized Test Scores to Bishop Canevin High School. Initial acceptances will be made in November and on a rolling basis thereafter.

Step 3: Register for the 8th Grade High School Placement Test

Bishop Canevin’s High School Placement Test is a requirement for all incoming freshman applicants. While the test results are not used to determine acceptance, they are used to ensure a rigorous yet appropriate academic course schedule. Additionally, some of the scholarships available to incoming freshmen include placement test results as part of the eligibility criteria.

Step 4: Apply for Financial Aid

Bishop Canevin utilizes FACTS Management, an independent Financial Aid Vendor, to assess family financial need. The application period typically opens in late-January and closes on March 15. Families who apply by March 15 will receive their financial package in April/May.

Step 5: Apply for BC Scholarships

Endowed by faculty, organizations, individuals and families, Bishop Canevin High School is able to offer incoming students a number of scholarships based on academics, service, leadership and/or financial need. Students are evaluated for each grant whose criteria they meet. Applications are due by March 15.

Step 6: Acknowledge Your Financial Package

Once received in April/May, families are asked to review and acknowledge their financial package. This acknowledgement starts the official enrollment process and opens up eligibility for class scheduling. Bishop Canevin works hard to make a Catholic education possible for all families and, as such, we welcome any questions you may have regarding your financial package.

Step 7: Class Scheduling

Scheduling typically begins in late-April/May. Recommendations for freshman courses are made based on a combination of grade school academic records, standardized test scores, and the High School Placement Test results.

Congratulations you’ve become a Crusader!
