This course will begin with the study of the history and philosophy of life science including the procedure of the scientific method. Students will study the tools used by biologists to study living organisms through laboratory activities. Students will be expected to demonstrate their knowledge of laboratory materials, safety, and proper procedure throughout the school year. Students will explore basic principles of chemistry as a foundation for biochemistry and the basic units of structure and function of all living organisms. Students will gain an understanding of fundamental structures within a cell and study cell division. Students will study genetics and classification of organisms.
