This course is a continuation of AP Calculus AB. The course will begin with a review of important topics from that course, where the concept of area under a curve is extended and explored, leading into a discussion of alternative methods of integration. Additional topics for study include vectors, parametric and polar coordinate systems, sequences, and series (both Taylor and Maclaurin). The course will conclude with a study of first and second order differential equations, preparing students for advanced study of that topic. This is a very rigorous course that is equivalent to a college calculus course, and will require summer preparatory work. Students who register for this course are required to take the AP Calculus BC examination in May (approximate cost $100) Graphing calculators are required. A TI-83 or TI-84 is recommended. Requires AVLI fee.
