Transportation

For Students in the Pittsburgh Public School District:

Pittsburgh Public will provide students with a Connect Card for PAT bus transportation to/from Bishop Canevin High School. A letter with more information will be sent to families during the summer.

For All Other Students:

According to PA Act 372, a student is eligible for subsidized transportation if the boundary of the public school district of his/her permanent address is more than two, and no more than ten miles from Bishop Canevin. The school district in which he/she resides must also provide transportation to their own public schools.

During the summer, families must contact their school district’s transportation department to request their student(s) be added to the Bishop Canevin High School bus roster. Bishop Canevin will provide a list of all incoming students to each district, however they also need to receive a request for service directly from families.

We will continue to offer a private bus option for families outside of the 10 mile radius and in the Washington County area. The bus runs from Washington to Chartiers-Houston to Bishop Canevin and back. Families in a Washington-area school district (e.g. Chartiers Houston, Peters Township, Trinity, etc.) will be contacted in July by Monark Student Transportation with pricing and additional details.

School Uniforms

Our Uniform Policy stresses the importance of self-discipline and a sense of pride in appearance. Strict adherence to the Uniform Policy reinforces the positive learning environment at BCHS. An updated policy will be provided over the summer. We don’t expect major changes, however we like to make enhancements each year as necessary.

School uniforms can be purchased at Pro3 Services in Greentree. We also offer a Uniform Exchange where previously worn and donated uniforms are available to students.

Dining

School lunches cost approximately $6 for the daily entree and drink with additional a la carte items available for purchase.

Bishop Canevin utilizes a cashless lunch account system called PaySchools. The system allows students to purchase their lunch using a 4-digit PIN that will be provided to them. Parents and guardians can easily manage and add funds to the lunch account via that PaySchools app. While there is a small fee to process the online payments, this can be avoided by sending a check (made payable to AVI Foodsystems) to the school.

Information required to set up the PaySchools account will be shared closer to the start of school.

Summer Service Hours

Development of our students into “persons for others” through service is a cornerstone of Bishop Canevin. The current service hour policy requires 25 service hours each school year. A minimum of 10 of these hours must include Magis Moments, defined as hands-on service to individuals most in need. Many students get a head start on service hours over the summer. Please use the Service Hour Form to track completed hours. Signed forms can be uploaded at the beginning of the school year.
